RIO DE JANEIRO, Brazil (Reuters) - Brazil's Governor Blairo Maggi, whose Amaggi Group is the world's largest soybean producer, denied on Wednesday that he was responsible for a big rise in destruction of virgin Amazon rainforest in his state.
"I am not the rapist of the forest," Gov. Maggi told Reuters by phone from Mato Grosso, Brazil's No.1 soy producing state on the southern edge of the Amazon Basin.
